Description

Cygnus Wall (as part of NGC 7000 North America Nebula) in SHO - Don’t build walls, build bridges

Although I’m somehow revisiting some of the same objects I captured exactly a year ago with my small RedCat scope, my current take and focus on these objects is so much different. One year ago, a quick single night capture of NGC 7000 during full moon to support the learning curve and get diversity in my DSO portfolio. This time, more in-depth with the TS140 scope, longer exposure times up 13 hrs, SHO-filters.

The result, an image of an eerie wall in the constellation of Cygnus with a blue ocean rolling against it. I was originally planning a different palette, but eventually tuned the curves and SHO blending into this blue-ish colour palette. Happy how the long integration time has culminated into the fine dusty detail in the wall, lit up by SHO-coloured stars …

Each time I look at this picture, I wonder: is it the Gulf of Mexico, or is it the Blue Lagoon … At least, given the result, it seems this image is the blue lagoon for me ….

Clear Skies everybody! 🤩✨🔭
