Description

In the beginning of september we had exceptional seeing over here. Really exceptional. So i grapped my scope and searched for a more difficult target than my usual ones. I found the heart nebula. There are several issues with the image: Obviously the camera had a bit tilting, and the distance to the reducer was not optimal. I had hoped to get a brighter OIII signal with the IDAS filter, but that didn't work well. Perhaps my expectations of an OSC where too high. There are also some background gradients i could not remove - i wonder if these are reflections from my OAG? Processing was also hard, the WBPP-Script really tormented my computer for hours and hours. In the end i used most steps from the WBPP-script and then integrated the images with the ImageIntegration-process manually. But all in all i am happy with the picture - the heart is clearly visible, even the bright fishhead made it to the image :-)

Of course i dedicate this image to my lovely wife! The heart nebula belongs to us all, but my heart belongs to her alone.
