Description

Centered in the image is galaxy NGC 4725, 55 million light-years away in the constellation of Coma Berenices. In contrast to most spiral galaxies, this one has only one spiral arm. The galaxy NGC 4747 can be seen on the left, its distinctive tail shows that the gravity of NGC 4725 has an influence on this galaxy. While these two galaxies are about an equal distance from the Milky Way, the galaxy NGC 4712 on the right is almost 200 million light years away, which is why it appears significantly smaller to us.
