Description

This „nameless nebula“ which is also known as Messier 78 (named after the famous catalogue of Charles Messier) is located in the constellation of Orion in a distance of about 1500 light years.
M78 is a reflection nebula, which means that the dust you can see in the image gets illuminated by very bright stars lying within this dust.
