Description

This is M101 aka the Pinwheel galaxy, a face on grand design spiral located around the end of the handle of the Big Dipper roughly 21 million light years away. It's famous for a high concentration of HII star forming regions (the pink stuff).  There are several prominent galaxies in this field, some of which are interacting with M101, contributing to its asymmetry. Zooming in and scrolling around will reveal many other less prominent but still interesting galaxies and structures.

This image is comprised of roughly 15.5 hours of data collected over 5 nights between March 2022 and May 2022. As always, thanks to @Adam Block for his excellent instructional content, and also a big thanks to Russel Croman's for his tools, which have greatly simplified my processing workflow. Specifically in this image, both BlurXterminator and NoiseXterminator were utilized. I thoroughly enjoy collecting data, but tend to procrastinate getting it processed in post due to overthinking everything. Maybe having some intuitive tools that produce excellent and legitimate results will help increase my velocity.
