Description

A rather faint emissions structure amidst a sea of stars in Cygnus.  Often seen in pure SHO and with a fair amount of blue oxygen.  To me though, that requires some extra fiddling and isn't quite representative of the object, as the exceedingly faint OIII is overlaid by dominating Ha, even if globally throttled back.  My 5 hours of OIII wasn't showing much at all, even independently stretched, so I opted not to capture any similarly-faint SII or stick with an HOO, and instead grabbed LRGB for the star field.

Stacking of all 5 sessions covering 6 filters was readily accomplished in WBPP.  For processing in StarTools 1.9 beta I set up the LRGB as the base image with minimal work needed other than gradient removal and a proper stretch.  After color balancing and saturation, the Ha and OIII were added via NB Accent , slightly biased toward the OIII.  This merely adds a little detail and lightening of the red Ha in those areas where both are concentrated.  Working backwards from the normal flow, the now color multi-band image was given a mild sharpening, deconvolution, and denoise.  Finally, a low percent layer blend of a separately-processed LRGBHa rendition added some extra strength to the hydrogen alpha.
