Description

After some clouds, I decided to set up on my back deck in Cudahy and grab some photos of the moon and Jupiter around 12:17am, which was just in time to see Europa ending its transit of Jupiter. The seeing was a bit bubbly, but enough to make out some details on the planet. The lighting and processing does give Europa the impression of being elongated, but it was just a bit jumpy during the capture. The Great Red Spot was also making its way through, so it was a nice mix of events to observe. I do like seeing the moons pop right around the edges of the planets close in the frame.

This was shot using a Vixen FL90s, (90mm) refractor telescope, an ADC and a 2x barlow. I took the top 40% of frames via Autostakkert!, processed via 1 bar registax wavelets only, and contrast/rgb balance. Gain was set to 274, exposure at 8.84ms, .ser output raw16 at 320x240.
