Description

I was a little surprised how large NGC 2403 was in my Esprit 150 . This image is cropped but only a very little bit, so I guess it is one of the larger galaxes one can image. Im generally pleased with this rendition but I'm never totally pleased. The total imaging time was about 14.7 hours which is kind of short for me , so I can't help but wonder what a longer exposure would have looked like. Total exposing time and individual sub exposure times are things that I am uncertain about. I'm just not sure how much is enough and what is more than I need. I also wonder if a little Ha would have helped. I see some others images of NGC 2403 with Ha added and I now think that would have been beneficial. I used curves with a game script luminance mask to push out some of the red but did not want to go too far with that. I also used HDRMT (Pixinsight) to get some more detail out of the galaxy.
The exposure times by filter are:

B  68 x 180
G  74 x 180
R  72 x 180
L  80 x 180

Total 14.7 hours
