Description

The North America Nebula, found in the Cygnus constellation, spans a vast area of gas and dust extending about 100 light-years across. Its shape resembles the continent of North America, hence its name. It gets its glow from nearby stars, which illuminate the dust and gas, creating dark lanes and bright hydrogen regions. Next to it is the Pelican Nebula, which looks like a pelican in flight from certain angles. Both nebulae are active star-forming regions, where dense clouds collapse under gravity to give birth to new stars, making them interesting targets for astronomers studying stellar evolution.

This is my second attempt at the North America and Pelican Nebulas. My last image comprised just under 6 hours of L-Extreme data from a bortle 8-9, while this image is 10 hours and 15 minutes through a combination of the Askar Color Magic D1 and D2 from a bortle 7.
