Description

This is a wide field shot of the NGC1333 to IC348 region in Perseus taken from a Bortle 3 site in Frisco NC with a William Optics Z61 and ASI 6200 MM camera. At roughly 5 hours of LRGB exposure I needed more time and will try and get more data. At first I was disappointed that I couldn't pull out more detail in the nebulosity but in the end I concluded that the focal length was probably working against me here. Most of the really nice shots on Astrobin are at the ~ 500 mm FSQ 106 FL. I did download a data pack from Telescope live (FSQ with reducer) to see if more exposure would help things but other than improve the SN a bit I wasn't able to get that nice whispy dust so I just posted my own data. Thanks for looking this certainly was different from a processing point of view there is just so much going on!

Description: I reworked this using PI for color balance and gradient removal then finished it off in PS. A bit less saturated and a bit more detail. Still not enough data though!

Description: Ok I think my obsession with this data set is done now! I just wanted to see how much I could get out of it with PI. Processing was fairly simple: LRGB, DBE, PCC and then Local Histogram Equalization, Dark Spot Enhancement and NoiseXterminator on the starless frames. I then took the layers into PS and combined them with a few saturation tweaks etc and finally some sharpening on the bright nebula. I used curves on the stars only frame to pull down the halos.
