Description

This image of SH2-115 also includes the planetary nebula SH2-116. It was captured as part of the monthly imaging challenge at Cloudy Nights.

There is over 40 hours of total integration time across the narrowband filters and the broadband RGB that was used to create more natural looking stars. Even with my relatively dark Bortle 2-3 skies the individual subs of SII and OIII are very dim showing little of the underling nebulosity. I continued capturing data until I thought SNR was sufficient to process appropriately

The main tool to stretch and balance the dimer SII and OIII was Generalized Hyperbolic Stretch in PixInsight. Several stretches were done with special stretches of just the Red and Blue channels. Of course other tools like BlurXTerminator and StartXTerminator were also used.

I appreciate any and all comments and of course your thumbs up if you like this interpretation of this target.

Dave
