Tried astrophotography in the early 2000s with a bad mount, a Celestron C8, and *film* SLRs... you know: manual guiding, two-week turnaround on images, etc. Gave up. In September 2022 I got the bug again, and started with a simple tracking mount and realized I loved it, which opened the "vortex of spending" such that I now have an Astro-Physics AP1100GTO AE, Celestron C11 EdgeHD, ASI6200mm-pro and various other goodies. I do most of my imaging from my rooftop deck in coastal Southern California, or in driveable areas nearby with less clouds. Home is Bortle 5-6, and the drive-to sites are Bortle 3-4.
