Description

The faint emission nebula Gum 51 (also RCW 105) in the constellation Norma. The nebula is dominated by H-alpha, which in true color yields an overall red tone. However, some test subs revealed a whiff of [SII] and some barely existent [OIII]. Not one to shy away from the challenge, I decided to try my hand at an SHO composite. After about 83hrs of data acquisition (the good data I kept anyway), and a weekend of processing and tweaking, this is what I came up with. Quite typical of my style but I've deliberately kept the [OIII] very subtle due to it's faintness (barely detectable above the background).
