Description

Here my 3rd processed image from TSP and another southern target.  This target does get a little higher than the other 2, but is still fairly low about 26 to 28 degrees.  This is 3 nights of imaging but only about 2.5 hours, again rotating cloud cover kept us hoping around to different targets and I did not get as much Ha as I wanted, I can add that at my home, if the clouds ever clear.  Like the other 2 images from TSP, this is the first time I have imaged this target.

This beautiful galaxy was discovered in 1752 by Nicholas Louis de Laceille and it was the 3rd galaxy discovered after M31 & M32.  M83 is 15 million light years away and about 100,000 light years in diameter.  M83 has also been one of the most active galaxies for observed supernova.
