Description

This is a two panel mosaic - my first attempt at a mosaic. It was fun to do but they take a long time, so not sure how often I will do this - a focal reducer is probably in my future. Voyager makes planning and capturing the mosaic panels super easy and processing in Pixinsight was pretty straight forward. Preprocessing was done in WBPP - using the keyword Pane to separate out the panels in post processing, so they registered properly. I tried both Star Alignment and Mosaic by Coordinates to register the integrated panels (by filter) to each other. Then Gradient Merger Mosaic to stich them together. I pefer Mosaic by Coordinates for the first step but both yielded equally good results. Again, both Voyager and Pixinsight made the process pretty painless, so despite the time involved, I will likely try this again. The exposure times by filter and panel are as follows:

Panel 1    Panel 2       Total   Exposure
R          71             76          147      300
B          64             62          126      300
G          67             69          136      300
L           74             65          139      300

Total    276          272         548

Total Expoxure  45.7 hours
