Description

This image was from data I downloaded from a third party in the forum of AB.  I apologize for not getting the name of the person who made this data free and available (I have searched but to no avail).  His/her instructions were to process the data and post to compare images with others from the same data.  So, in the interest of honoring those instructions, here is my rendition of NCG 2736.  The data were downloaded as subframes taken with a camera using LRGB filtration.  It gave me the opportunity and challenge to use the WBPP script in PI.  I have been using OSC for all my images and I really enjoyed the ease and simplicity with which this script processed all the flats, darks and light subs.  At first, it looked intimidating however, with the You Tube videos and especially Warren Keller's "Inside PixInsight" textbook, the adventure was an enjoyable learning experience.  Might still do some post processing tweaking but I thought the image was worthy of being posted.

The Pencil Nebula lies about 815 light years from our solar system.  It is thought to be part of a supernova remanent in the constellation Vela.
Wikipedia and NASA provided the description and more detail can be found on their respective websites.

Again, thanks to the unnamed individual who provided the data.  If you see this, please comment as others are invited to do.

Enjoy and clear skies to all!!

Patrick
