Description

Imaged Mars on the morning of October 18, 2020 with average seeing and transparency. Mars was showing a disc ~22 arcsecs in diameter at magnitude of -2.5. The prominent dark albedo feature to the south of the meridian is Mare Cimmerium. I was able to up my FPS to ~300 and nearly double the number of frames I am capturing from ~45k to ~70k by setting a smaller ROI and using a crop video cut out around Mars (wish I had figured that out sooner!).

Imaged with a C8 Evo, ZWO ADC, Baader UV-IR Cut filter, an.d ZWO ASI224MC. Imaging train was configured to give ~F/20. Image capture using Firecapture with gain set at 250 and an exposure of 2.5 ms. Stacking in AutoStakkert3 (best 10% of ~70,000 frames captured over 240 seconds). Color balancing and Wavelet sharpening in Registax6. De-rotated and combined 3 images in Winjupos.
