Description

The galaxy NGC 4656, also known as the "Hockey Stick Galaxy," is an impressive stellar formation located approximately 30 million light-years from Earth, in the constellation Canes Venatici. Its name comes from its characteristic shape, which resembles a hockey stick, a result of gravitational interaction with the neighboring galaxy NGC 4631.

This galaxy has undergone significant distortions and features an extensive star-forming region, giving it an impressive and complex structure. Studying NGC 4656 provides valuable insights into galaxy interactions and their effects on astronomical evolution.

The photograph we present here captures the beauty and complexity of NGC 4656, revealing its unique characteristics and inviting us to further explore the mysteries of the universe.
