Description

Just in time for Halloween are ghostly IC 63 amd IC 59 in the constellation of Cassiopeia. There are several challenges involved here - notably dealing with Gamma Cassiopeiae. Also, it is really easy to get the H-alpha to dominate the reflection nebulosity and destroy the star color completely. So I aimed for a bit of a delicate touch to allow the reflection nebulosity to show through and the star color as well.

H-alpha data was gathered using my 294 MM Pro and 0.8x reducer; RGB data gathered from a dark sky site using the 2600 MC Pro and the scope at native focal length.

This image is presented as a mirror reflection of its natural orientation. I rather like this composition, since it shows the ghost flying from the left of the frame towards Navi and leads the eye into the image.
