Description

Proudly present my latest observation: the Heart Nebula (IC 1805), a heart-shaped emission nebula located within the Cassiopeia Constellation. Unlike many other emission nebulae, the Heart Nebula doesn't emit very bright or dim lights yet its allure is undeniable. Residing in a city center heavily bathed in light pollution, capturing broadband deep sky objects like galaxies posed a real challenge for my Vespera, I found.

Determined to overcome this, I opted for imaging emission nebulae using a dual-band filter that effectively countered the city lights' interference. My choice of the Vaonis Vespera observation station proved crucial, especially considering the optimal imaging window for the Heart Nebula spanning from 11:00 PM to 3:00 AM. With the Vespera's ingenious safety lock function, it automatically turn into sleep mode at sunrise or during rainfall, allowing me to sleep peacefully while the data accumulated overnight. An exceptional feature worth highlighting is the Vespera's CovalENS function. This mosaic shooting mode utilized a small 2 MP sensor with a narrow angle of view (1.6° by 0.9°) to generate a 8 MP mosaic/panorama image (2.4° by 2.4°), perfectly encompassing the Heart Nebula's intricate beauty.

My efforts involved 12 nights dedicated to gathering the raw data using my Vespera. The results exceeded my expectations, delivering a gratifying outcome that truly showcases the wonders of the Heart Nebula.
