Description

M27 is a planetary nebula in the constellation Vulpecula and is estimated to be about 1,360 light years away.
This object was first discovered by Charles Messier in 1764.

104x180s Lights (Taken over 2 nights), calibrated with flats, darks and flat-darks.

This image was taken in my Bortle 7 backyard and processed in Pixinsight.

This was my first target taken with the Antlia ALP-T dual-narrowband filter and the target provided a stunning example of how much this filter helps in light polluted skies.  The "wings" and expanded halo around the nebula were out of reach until I added the Antlia ALP-T.

Due to the significant difference in brightness between the faint wings and the core of the nebula, I had to use two lightness masks during stretching to protect the dumbell itself from being blown out.  Stars and nebula were processed separately thanks to the amazing StarNet2 tool.
