Description

Hello friends,

the Omicron team is very proud to present to you an extraordinary work, started 3 months ago on the Dragon trio with the C2PU's 1 meter Deltagraph.

This trio is composed of the galaxies NGC 5981, NGC 5982 (in the center) and NGC 5985. It is very aesthetic because it shows 3 different types of galaxies together.

It has here been image using the 1 meter deltagraph at f/3.2 with 15h of luminance, 4h of each RGB channel and 2h of infrared (SDSS i' filter).

NGC 5982 shows multiple shells, but also a giant stellar halo that we have never seen before. The detection was confirmed by the professionals before publishing the image and brillance measurements are in progress

A 132 x 60 s superflat with no filter has been used for the luminance to reach this LSB (Low surface brightness) halo .

We hope you will enjoy this tribute to the Draco Trio.

As usual, the final version is a 4K crop. Please have a look at the 8K full frame here, it contains an incredible amount of galaxies :

Some remarkable quasars are visible and have been pointed out by Serge Brunier. One of which is 11.8 million light years away :

Here is an inverted and stretched version to see the Halo :

Clear skies.
