Description

As we move towards winter here, the centre of the Milky Way with the exotic menagerie of beastly nebulae,  Serpent, Eagle, Swan, Lobster, Prawn, Cat and Dragons gathered around the Lagoon fringed by a Trif(f)id.

Of all these, I have found Lobster the most challenging to image.  While  the notes in Bracken's Photographic Atlas of the Night Sky  say it has plenty of [OIII] and [SII], it really doesn't have much of the former, and the latter has a distribution rather similar to H alpha.

I have not really been satisfied with my previous images, so I decided to give my next attempt at long exposure - 16 hours - with my fast f/3.2 Hypergraph ( 9 hours in H and 4.5 hours each in O and S).

Processing the lobster is also as difficult as trying to eat one.   And I am sure it would help me if I could actually see the lobster I am supposed to be processing.  However, here is my best effort after 18hours of images and at least that of post-processing.

It's better than my previous efforts, but I am still not 100% happy with it.
