Description

With only 2 hours available last night, I thought it would be a good idea to take something bright and big and turn it into a mosaic. My Z73 can barely squeeze M31 in one frame so I went for two frames of around 50 minutes each. First time doing a multi panel, and first time NINA went through a meridian flip. I was only a bit nervous... In the end I had to ditch 5 out of 28 (120 sec) frames from the first panel and 2 out of 24 from the second panel, mainly due to satellites and a bit of cloud. And Clear Outside was spot on with its prediction, as clouds started to move in exactly after two hours.

Stitching everything together in APP is on the one hand pretty straightforward, on the other hand there a lot of parameters you can/should play with, and the differences are very subtle. All in all I am very happy for a first time and given the limited time I had. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was that PHD2 did not want to go below 1" and kept hovering around my scope/camera resolution. I got 'Star lost' a couple of times, but the Patriot Astro sequence made sure everything kept going until the end.

Title: Now, with more data!

Description: I added a couple of hours of data I shot previously, but not as a mosaic and it covers only M31 itself.
