Description

Every year around January and February, we see hundreds of images of the Horsehead nebula and surrounding nebula.

Why?  It's because there is so much to see and be exited about when you capture this target.  I always learn more each time I capture and edit this famous object.  It is surprisingly difficult to image and to end up with what you hoped to after processing.  The big brute is the nearby star Alnitak of course. It spreads is radiation into every part of this nebula and others making it hard to make a clean image.

This image has suffered from Alnitak and it was a challenge reduce the effects, but I am happy how it turned out in the end.  A small amount of Ha was added just to bring a little more detail to the image, but not so much as to change its natural colour too much.

I  hope you like this recent version as much I enjoyed making it.  Imaged from the Complejo Astrónomico at Los Coloraos, Gorafe in Spain using my C11telescope  and ASI6200MM camera.
