Description

The Eastern Veil Nebula is a portion of the larger Veil Nebula, a supernova remnant in the constellation Cygnus the Swan. As the remnants of an exploded star from approximately ten thousand years ago travel through space, they collide with the interstellar medium creating ionized gas that fluoresces much like a neon light.

The supernova remnant is approximately 2,400 light years from Earth.
