Description

SH2-200 is a very old planetary nebula in the constellation of Cassiopeia commonly known as the Bear Claw Nebula due to the rippled structures on the surface of the enormous gas bubble formed as dying star shed its atmosphere at the end of its life. The energy of this faint planetary nebula is able to ionize unrelated interstellar gas in the vicinity. It has a very low surface brightness that took over 29 hours of total integration time for the Ha, OIII, R, G and B color channels making up this particular image.
