Description

Located approximately 2300 light years  away are the Flyiing Bat (Sh 2-129) & the Squid (Ou4) nebulae. Discovered in 2011 by the French astro-imager Nicolas Outters, together they form a surreal image dominated by red Ha signal of the bat and the faint, blue Oiii signal of the Squid. Anyone who has tried to image this object knows that a significant amount of integration time is required to bring out any detail in the squid. This image consists of approximately 27.5 hrs of integration time collected over several nites in 2022 & several nites over the last 2 months. Could have easily doubled the integration time  to improve the image further esp with an OSC camera.
