Description

I collected ~24 hours of OSC data in 2021/22 using both my EdgeHD at 1474mm and TSAPO106FF at 700mm focal lengths.
After getting a mono camera I also collected 3.5 hours of Ha and 5 hours of Luminance.

This image combines all this data, including using Bill Blanshan's excellent PixelMath expressions for adding Ha to RGB images and AstroPinoy's technique for adding wider angle data for a better framing whilst keeping the quality/resolution of the central target data.

I'm particularly pleased how M82, the Cigar galaxy, came out and how visible Holmberg IX is, despite having to fight some bad gradients (likely from my early data when I didn't know too much in my first year of astro) - hence the lack of visible IFN ....there was some in there but I had to darken the background due to lack of success in removing the gradients.

Despite these problems, I'm pretty happy with the end result ...... and will certainly be adding mono lum and Ha to several of my old OSC galaxy images this season ...M106 is crying out for it!
