Description

The emission nebula, North America Nebula (NGC 7000) on the left is famous partly because it resembles Earth's North America continent. To the right is the emission nebula dubbed the Pelican Nebula as it resembles a pelican. The two emission nebulae measure about 50 light-years across, are located about 1,500 light-years away, and are separated by a dark absorption cloud. They reside north-east of bright star Deneb in the constellation of Cygnus.
Imaged October 22 and 23 of 2004 as a two panel mosaic from Marieth Observatory in Central Oregon.
