Description

These are very faint nebulae near the North Star. A bit more than 10 degrees from the North Star.
LBN 552 is in the lowest brightness category of the Lynds Bright Nebula catalog and therefore it is a real challenge for an amateur photographer like myself. That's probably why I managed to mess up the FOV so that these targets came to the lower edge of the picture area.
It's a bit hard to understand why Lynds has included one of these in the Bright catalog, both are very dim and should be in the Dark catalog, in my opinion.
The nebulae in the picture belong to the vast Cepheus molecular cloud. They are called "The Fighting Dragons".

It is said that someone with a decent imagination sees two dragons in a mutual struggle. I can see a creature with open jaws (dragon?) about to strike its prey (reindeer? goat?). Once I see a reindeer, I can't unsee it, so I miss the other dragon 😎.

Perhaps this kind of mysticism has contributed to the emergence of interest in astronomy in the past. However, I don't know when these nebulae were discovered.

The nebulae are about 600 light-years away from Earth.
