Description

The small, northern constellation of Triangulum is home to the magnificent face-on spiral galaxy M33. Common names include the Pinwheel Galaxy, or simply the Triangle Galaxy.

M33 is over 50,000 light-years across, it is the third largest galaxy in the Local Group after the Andromeda Galaxy (M31) and our Milky Way. M33's distance from the Milky Way is about 3 million light-years, it is believed to be a companion of the Andromeda galaxy. Astronomers would likely have spectacular views of each other's magnificent spiral star systems in these two galaxies.
