Description

NGC 1023 is a lenticular barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation Perseus at a distance of about 32 million light-years: it is the brightest member of the NGC 1023 group, which also includes NGC 891 and NGC 925.
This galaxy is characterized by the fact that it possesses a particular type of star cluster, called faint fuzzies, which appear to be a sort of globular cluster, born from the merger of other clusters: this type of cluster has only been found in two other galaxies: NGC 3384 and NGC 5195, the companion to M51 (source: Wikipedia)
It's not a particularly spectacular galaxy or full of details, but having already taken NGC 891 and NGC 925 I thought it was good to complete the picture of the most significant members of its group :-)
A dozen of faint galaxies are visible on the background.
