Description

It is still snowing so I dug up an attempt from earlier this year. That night I was about to image my second session of LBN406 but at that point I was just unable to figure out how to get the same target and framing as the night before. I then decided to do the troubleshooting the next day and diverted to another target in order to not waste the night and slewed to the Sagittarius region to capture IC4685 and NGC6523.

Embedded in this nebula is the open star cluster NGC 6530, within the stars formed from the nebula in the past million years. Many of these stars are still contracting hence they have not yet begun burning hydrogen. In fact the nebula M8 itself, as an ionized hydrogen region, is only a "small" visible section on the surface of a giant molecular gas cloud that lies behind and further includes NGC6559 and its dark nebulae LDN213 & LDN214 among others.
The target showed very low above the horizon so my imaging-time was limited and the atmospheric dispersion is quiet visible. However in the end I am happy with what resulted of my unplanned digression - not sure which coulorblend of the two versions is suitable though.
