Description

Clear nights are rare at the moment in my place, so I use every opportunity to test my new gear, a wide field hypergraph from Sharpstar with 364mm focal length at f/2.8. I used the first hours of the clear night to play with backfocus and tilt. After I was satisfied, the well suited wide-field targets of the milky way were already out of reach. So I pointed the scope at M44 which was high in the sky to get at least a nice star field. However after about half an hour after the imaging sequence started, clouds rolled in and I had to pack up.

It was clear to me that the data cannot be used for a serious image, nevertheless I stacked them to closer investigate the collimation and tilt of the new system. In the stacked image I could identify an object that looked like a comet, and after entering RA and DEC in Stellarium the object was identified as comet C/2022 E2 (ATLAS).
So I decided to use the 34 frames to make a short animation of the comet. I did not put a lot of effort into the image processing, and I upload the animation only for my own entertainment.

If it happens you stop by and have a look, thanks a lot and enjoy!
