Description

The clair-obscur effect called "The Eyes of Clavius",  takes place when the rims of craters Clavius C (21km) and D (28km) become gently illuminated before the floor of Clavius, on which they reside.

I'd say that it was ideally visible for about 2h and took me years to catch, being definitely one of my favorite lunar tricks of light. To properly catch details in the sunlit part of the craters, I had to significantly drop the exposure to keep details balanced between night and day. Nevertheless, I'm quite happy with the results taking into consideration that I did not have a tracking mount.

Acquired using an 8" Dob, manually tracked, 2x barlow, ZWO ASI178MC with IR685 filter, under good seeing and average transparency.
