Description

This is my second attempt at M106 from my backyard.   What a difference 2 years of experience, an upgraded camera and more exposure time can make.

First attempt can be found here: https://www.astrobin.com/54pi4d/

Both were taken from the same Bortle 7 backyard, though the newest version had a larger moon phase.  There was a very significant gradient from the moon that could only be addressed after I cropped it significantly.   I'm going to have to capture this one from a dark site next time, as it is quite an interesting galaxy, with some amazing companion galaxies in the same field of view!

Equipment:
  • Skywatcher Esprit 100 Triplet
  • EQ6-R Pro mount
  • Pegasus Astro EF
  • SVBony Guide scope / Camera
  • Stellarmate OS on a Raspberry Pi 4.

Data:
  • 48x180s Lights
  • 263x120s Lights
  • Calibrated with Darks, Flats and Dark Flats.
