Hello fellow Space Nerds. This is rough draft number 1 on M51. I will do a couple more edits. This image was acquired on clear nights over the last couple months. I will include only the start date, and end date. Thanks for looking and Clear Skies!

Located approximately 23 million light-years away in the constellation Canes Venatici, Messier 51, also known as the Whirlpool Galaxy, is a stunning spiral galaxy that captivates astronomers and stargazers alike. This galaxy is a perfect example of a grand design spiral galaxy, with its prominent spiral arms gracefully winding around a bright central bulge.

The Whirlpool Galaxy is actually a pair of galaxies interacting with each other, creating a magnificent display of cosmic dance. The larger galaxy, designated NGC 5194, is pulling material from its smaller companion, NGC 5195, creating a bridge of gas and dust that connects the two galaxies. This interaction has triggered intense star formation in the Whirlpool Galaxy, resulting in bright blue regions of young, hot stars scattered throughout its spiral arms.
