Description

IC 342 (also called Hidden Galaxy) is a barred spiral galaxy with an active galaxy core in the constellation Camelopardalis in the northern sky. It is around 8 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 60,000 light-years.
The signals of the light from IC 342 are very weak, the structure of the galaxy can only be seen dimly on a single image. (Comparison Andromeda: 3.5 mag, IC 342: 9.1 mag). The beautiful structure only becomes apparent when stacked as an overall picture.
