Description

Start of the new HaRGB project.  A close look into IC 1805/ Melotte 15.  So far I have 59x300” exposures in Ha from a very nice night last night.

Description: I managed to limp through getting some RGB data last night. There were many battles...High clouds made brief invasions, causing me to ditch a few frames, but my main issues were dew, and my Ioptron tri-pier. One of the bolts broke and I have to keep the leg from sliding with heavy cinderblocks. I expected more of a $600 tripod, I'm working with Ioptron to resolve the issue, but this isn't the first thing to break on the tir-pier, so we'll see. None the less, I got some RGB last night to the Ha data that came out really nice. It's kind of a preview of what the image might look like when I do manage to get good RGB data. The RGB totaled to almost 2.5hrs. The other issue I've been dealing with is coming out to my main objective being fogged over. This issue had plagued me well before my tripod issues. I'm working on building a dew strip out of resistors and a motor controller to control the heat output. Once I find the time to construct it, the dew issue should be resolved. Then it's just a matter of Ioptron having good support for their products. Lots of little issues is what this hobby is about right?
