Description

The dumbbell nebula, M27.  Probally so called because the early observers of this fabulous planetary nebula could only see the bright Hydrogen and Oxygen core.

Now we see it in all its glory, with outer rings rich in oxygen and a bit of hydrogen, one of the last attempts of a dying star to keep in control of its huge mass.

Pleased with the image as it shows the spheical nature of the shell that has been expelled by the dying star.
