Description

NGC 457, open cluster in the constellation Cassiopeia.
I really like this object, it is very fun to look at through the eyepiece. I remember the first time a colleague pointed me at it when we were out at night and I immediately recognized the shape.
It reminds me of the funny little robot in the 1980's movie 'Short Circuit'.
The image shows a strange ring around one of the stars, NGC 457-128 which at first I thought it could be "something". I contacted my local observatory and we were studying the lights and calibration frames. At first we were puzzled, but it was probably due to some kind of reflection because, upon repetition of the photograph, the ring did not appear again :/
