I saw
this amazing image of the Gem Cluster with the beautiful reflection lines in the background by Wolfgang Promper last month and was stunned to discover it was from the Carina nebula locale. I was inspired and within a week I was onto it from my backyard. The weather kept enabling me to get that "one more night" of data until the window eventually closed but I was happy with what I achieved. Maybe later in the year if I graduate to a monochrome camera I might be able to get some of that beautiful reflection component present in his picture. This is a OSC image with the foraxx palette.
It was interesting to learn that the Gabriela Mistral Nebula is the name given to the combination of the open cluster NGC 3324 and the nebula, IC 2599, after the Chilean poet. When you see a picture of her with her big, wavy hair, you can see why. And good for them for coming up with that!
