Description

Central large crater is Copernicus. Small double craters below (south) are Fauth A & B, sometimes called the "Hole of Lock" for obvious reasons. Two intermediate size craters trailing off to the southwest are Reinhold (closer) and Lansberg near the edge of the image. To provide some scale, Copernicus is approximately 56 miles in diameter. The small crater southeast of Copernicus and approximately equidistant to Fauth is Copernicus H, that is approximately 3 miles in diameter. Moon is 10 days old. Feature identification and size data from Virtual Moon Atlas. Image capture through Celestron Edge HD 8; modified Canon 450D in live view mode with AVI capture via BackyardEOS. Best 30 of 300 stacked with Autostakkert. Sharpening with Registax wavelets and final processing with Photoshop CS5.
