Description

HOO image of NGC7293 the Helix nebula, sometimes referred to as the Eye of God. This is a planetary nebula located in the constellation Aquarius. Comparing to other deep sky objects, the Helix nebula is quite close to the Earth, only 660 light years away. The nebula is pretty low in northern skies, so I only had a few hours of imaging window before it was blocked by neighbor's house. Fortunately, nebulosity of the gas surrounding the center star is quite bright and I was able to snap enough data for processing.
