Description

The large and beautiful "Rosette" nebula is a bright emission nebula in the Monoceros constellation.
This vast nebula extends to an area covering over a degree across (about 5 times the area of the full moon)
At first glance it is pretty obvious why this nebula is known as the "rosette" ... but upon closer inspection, many see a skull (rotate this version 90 clockwise if you can't see it at first!)

The open cluster of stars in the middle of the nebulosity are NGC 2244.

This image is the result of using the unfiltered exposures colour data (RGB), with the Luminance channel composed of the SPCC calibrated L-eXtreme narrow band data.
This gives the sharpness and definition of the narrow band capture ... but with a natural colour palette.

Title: RGB Only

Description: This revision contains only the 3 hours of RGB data, so demonstrate how the addition of the narrowband luminance data has added some sharpness and detail, but IMHO not significantly altered the overall look, or colours of the natural object.
