Description

A quick opportunity from the back yard whlist attempting to finesse back focus distance after installing the  ZWO 2"  7 position filter wheel. Maybe go narrow band some day............ For now it will stop dust hopefully on the filters i currently own..
IC 2488 lays 3600 light years distant in the Southern constellation of Vela the Sail. It measures 19 light years wide.
Discoverd by Nicolas _louis DeLacaille on Jan 25th 1752 from south Afirca.
I have also unwittingly capture  Planetary Nebula WRAY17-31 / RCW44  ,JUST .....Top edge of field above  Brightest star N Vela at a Magnitude of 14.69 and an apparent size of 1.8 arc minutes. It is probably not associated with IC 2488.
Of note 3 blue straggles and 3 red giants are indisputable members of this cluster ,one of which is a spectoscopic binary star.
