Description

Despite being one of the unnamed Sharpless objects,  the emission nebula Sh2-112,  is IMO still quite beautiful. It’s situated in the Cygnus region, an area rich in Ha , near the NA nebula and Deneb approximately 5000 light years away.  It’s location is awash with diffuse, faint nebulosity as seen in the background of the image.  The nebula is energized by a hot, young star,  BD +45 3216, which emits large amounts of UV light causing the gases to glow. Because it’s a relatively small object, a long focal length scope and NB filters are needed to bring out details.  Using my C9.25, Starizona 0.63x reducer/corrector, & L-ultimate 3nm dual band filter,  I integrated almost 9 hrs of data from Bortle 8 skies.
