Description

M6, also known as the Butterfly Cluster, is a dazzling open cluster of stars located in the southern constellation of Scorpius. Visible to the naked eye under dark skies, it gets its name from the way its brighter stars form a loose pattern resembling a butterfly with open wings. Estimated to be around 100 million years old, M6 is a relatively young cluster compared to some.
