Description

Just finished building my new 8" f5 Klaus Helmerich GSO Carbon Fibre Newt over the past 2 weeks and last night tested for Spider Vane alignment , Collimation and Coma.
I chose M7 Ptolemy's Open Cluster as it has quite of few medium sized stars to qualification test the new scope. M7 wasn't the best choice as I found out later it has an immense tight dense star field as a backdrop against the test stars. The last time I imaged M7 was 5 or 6 years ago with an old Canon DSLR in my old 6' Newt and it didn't expose what my ZWO2600MC did on this image.

Location : Backyard , Sydney Australia
Bortle 7/8 sky
Conditions : Good seeing
Rising waning Moon in the east around 60%
Telescope : 8" f5 Klaus Helmerich GSO caron fibre newtonian reflector
Mount : Skywatcher EQ6-R Pro
Imaging Camera : ZWO 2600MC cooled to -10C , Gain 101
No filters ( only internal UV/IR Cut protective window )
Guide Scope : Orion 60mm with Helical focuser
Guide Camera : ZWO120MM-S

55 x 30 sec subs
40 x Flats
60 x Bias
EQMOD and Ascom Stellarium
APT
PHD2 Multistar Guiding ( created a new profile , created new dark library and new Calibration at Dec = 0 ) Mount guided around 0.50 to 0.60 arc sec  total which was pleasing as I spent time on Ra and Dec balance.
Stacked in Deep Sky Stacker
Processed in Startools V1.8  OSC Linear data set

Fairly pleased with this first light and star test with the new scope
Stars in the on axis area looked pretty good with some minor coma in the areas of the corners which I will work on using some 0.5mm shims.
